BIOGRAPHY

Anna Rugis is from Pokeno, in the North Island of New Zealand. Her career as a backup singer began with the TVNZ show Happen Inn which provided a training ground for subsequent work in UK and US with Van Morrison, Cat Stevens, The Kinks, Cliff Richard, The Peddlars, Lulu, and others. She is a prolific songwriter. As well as all the music for children offered on this site, she has recorded three CDs of original music. Check them out at www.myspace.com/annarugis.

Those titles include Reconciliation, Cave Songs, and Traffic in Gold. She has produced CDs for fellow singers, Linn Lorkin and Diane Ponzio and published many poems in journals such as Poetry NZ, Takahe, brief, Catalyst, and JAAM. She performs concerts of her contemporary mouth music (songs accompanied only by hand and foot rhythms in the traditional of vocal dance music from the Hebridean Islands of Scotland.) and will be touring NZ in 2012 with her new show entitled DO or DI? - a whodunit musical game show. (This show features the hits of Dinah Shore and Doris Day and is performed with Linn Lorkin and Hershal Herscher.) Anna also creates the graphics and design for this website as well as for the downloadable digital booklets accompanying her CDs when purchased from iTunes.

The ENVIROMUSIC CDs were engineered by Brent Holt at CDS Productions in Maraetai, near Auckland. As well as running his recording studio Brent works with World Vision¿s Kids for Kids program.
